Beeston Valley Badminton Club

Rules and Constitution

1. The Club to be known as "BEESTON VALLEY BADMINTON CLUB".

2. The Club to be affiliated to the Nottinghamshire Badminton Association.  The required
affiliation fees to be submitted to Nottinghamshire Badminton Association by the due date.

3. All Members and Associate Members to be registered with the Badminton Association of England.
The required registration fees to be paid to the Badminton Association of England by the due date.

4. The Club shall hold an Annual General Meeting at which the Members shall elect the following
Officers of the Club:

	Chairman
	Treasurer
	Secretary

5. The Members at the Annual General Meeting shall elect a Selection Committee with a minimum
of three Members.

6. The Members at the Annual General Meeting shall confirm the election of a General Committee,
consisting of all Officers of the Club, comprising the Chairman, Treasurer, Secretary and Members
of the Selection Committee.

7. The Members at the Annual General Meeting shall elect Match Secretaries for the Mens, Ladies
and Mixed Teams, who will confirm matches and liaise with the Officers of the Club regarding
postponement and rearrangement of matches.

8. The Club shall enter teams in the Nottinghamshire Badminton Association Leagues.  The number
of Mens, Ladies and Mixed Teams to be proposed by the Members at the Annual General Meeting.
This to be confirmed by the General Committee at the start of the season.

9. The Selection Committee shall select players for the Mens, Ladies and Mixed Teams.
The Selection Committee shall select the players to be starred and notify these to the
Nottinghamshire Badminton Association League Secretary before the first match of the season.

10. When possible, the Selection Committee shall post all Teams and Reserves on the notice board
at least two weeks prior to each match.

11. The Selection Committee shall select a Team Co-ordinator for each match.  It will be the
responsibility of the Team Co-ordinator to confirm with the Team Members (or Reserve Team Members)
the details for each match (i.e. venue, start time, etc), to co-ordinate the provision of
refreshments for Home Matches, and collect Match Fees and pay these to the Treasurer.

12. The Selection Committee shall select, at their discretion, Members to play in Teams. For all
Teams (second and below), the Selection Committee must select bona fide Club Members and should
only select non-Club or associated members if all Club Members have been approached.  For all First
Teams (Mens, Ladies and Mixed), the Selection Committee must select nominated Team Members and
Reserves.  However, in exceptional circumstances when a full Team is not available for a particular
match, the Selection Committee shall have the discretion to select players from associated Clubs.

13. Subscriptions (Annual and Shuttle Fees) shall be fixed at the Annual General Meeting and shall
be payable by the end of the season.  A reduced rate for the Annual Subscription may be offered to
those Members paying before 31st December.

14. The Annual Subscription to cover the Winter Season (beginning of September to end of March or
as notified by Nottinghamshire Badminton Association).

15. A Summer Club may be held from April to August inclusive.  Fees to be set at the Annual
General Meeting.

16. New applicants for Membership shall be invited as Visitors for a period of three visits.
A Visitor's Fee (set at the Annual General Meeting) shall be payable until such time as their
application for Membership has been accepted or otherwise.  On acceptance of Membership, the
difference between the Shuttle Fee and the Visitor's Fees paid shall be deducted from the Subscription.

17. Former Club members may attend Club nights on payment of the standard Visitor's Fee.  This to be
at the discretion of the General Committee.

18. Junior Members and Unwaged Members shall pay half the full Subscription.  Members who are retired
will be asked to pay the full Subscription.  However, individual circumstances may be taken into
account.  This to be at the discretion of the General Committee.  New Members joining after 31st
December shall pay half the full Subscription.  Any Member not paying their Annual Subscription by
the end of the Winter Season will be referred to the General Committee and may not be allowed to
re-join the Club until the arrears have been paid.  This to be at the discretion of the General Committee.

19. The General Committee shall consider and agree all new applications for Membership.

20. The Club may form links with other Clubs or Social Groups in order to expand court facilities.
The members of these Clubs/Social Groups shall be classed as Associate Members of the Club and shall
be required to pay the Visitor's Fee and the affiliation fee for the Badminton Association of England.

21. Club Members shall notify any complaints, disputes or disagreements to the Chairman or Secretary,
who will refer these to the General Committee for discussion and action.  The decision of the General
Committee shall be final.

22. The Club shall hold a current bank account and may also hold an interest-bearing account if funds
allow.  A minimum of two Members (i.e the Treasurer and one of the Secretary or Chairman) to be
signatories on the account(s).  Cheques may be signed by one signatory.  A balance sheet and accounts
to be submitted to the Annual General Meeting by the Treasurer.

23. If it should be deemed necessary to wind up the Club, this to be determined by the existing Members
at an Extraordinary Meeting.  All monies owed to the Club shall be obtained.  The Club assets shall be
sold.  The resulting balance of monies shall be used to pay the Club's creditors and the remaining sum
to be disposed of equally between existing Members.  Any outstanding debt shall be borne equally between
existing Club members.

24. The Constitution may only be amended at the Annual General Meeting or at an Extraordinary General
Meeting.  Proposed amendments should be notified to the Chairman or Secretary at least two weeks prior
to any meeting.
